Maruti is going to launch the all-new Vitara Brezza in Bangalore on 21st Mar’16. Now, the name Vitara isn’t new to us. The Grand Vitara has been sold for many years, before being put to sleep two years back. This time though, the Vitara badge sits on the boot of a much smaller SUV. The Vitara Brezza is exactly 3995mm long. Getting to the numbers, the Brezza will be available only with a diesel engine for now – the tried and tested 1.3-litre block. That engine, with assistance from a variable geometry turbo, churns out 88bhp and 200Nm. It’s mated to a five-speed manual transmission. No AMT on offer, either. The fuel efficiency will be approximately 24.3kpl. The top end ZDi+ variant gets dual tone colour scheme, auto headlamps and wipers, airbags and ABS, Apple Carplay music system with steering controls and Bluetooth, keyless entry. Unlike most other Marutis, the Brezza's design is quite refreshing, and it does have presence. It doesn’t get a boot mounted spare to give it an SUV look, but even without that, it looks much like a compact SUV. Now, to the important bit, the price. The Brezza starts at Rs 7.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore) and goes up to Rs 9.95 lakh for the ZDi+ variant. The Brezza will be sold to all Pratham Motors Sales outlet and not Nexa.
